September 28 2010 - Make-A-Wish Foundation
Portland, CT - Two local children's wishes will come true, thanks to a group of Autobody facilities - CARSTAR, Connecticut, sponsors and the 67 golfers who participated in the third annual CARSTAR Charity Golf Tournament at Quarry Ridge Golf in Portand, Connecticut.
CARSTAR Connecticut's golf tournament is part of a nationwide effort to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. On a national level, the autobody franchise network has raised more than $300,000 to date. The local gift of $14,000 presented at the dinner following golf play, will enable the Connecticut chapter to grant the wishes of two area children with a life-threatening medical condition.
"The golf tournament was a great opportunity for our Connecticut auto body stores to come together with our vendors, customers and area businesses to make a difference," said Lisa Siembab, Directory of Business Strategies. "We are fortunate that we increased our contribution from last year and anticipate even more for next year."
One of the highlights of the day was the appearance of the CARSTAR Super'Stang and the "Sister'Stang". For 2010, CARSTAR and Hertz partnered up to give the original CARSTAR Super'Stang a new Sister'Stang. The new vehicle on the tour is a beautiful 2007 High Performance Hertz Shelby Mustang. The two Mustangs will be touring the U.S. throughout 2010 and the early part of 2011 to support local charities. The are expected to make appearances across the U.S. at different events and fundraisers. The tour will end with a sweepstakes of the Hertz Shelby Mustang in 2011.
